Our History

The Lafonisios Road is held in honour of the massacred of 1824 on the island of Lafonisi.

Historically, it started in 1960, and was initially organized by the Association of Attica's Ennichorians. The route was from Inachorio's Perivolia to the island of Lafonissi. Since 2015, it has been held every year by the organizing committee, "Lafonisios road Inahorias routes".

The action

The action of the Cultural, Cultural and Sports Association of the community of Vathis Kissamos "MUSAGORES", based in Plokamiana Kissamos, Chania, in collaboration with the Regional Unit of Chania of the Region of Crete, the Municipality of Kissamos, him Association of Friends of Crete "Mikis Theodorakis" and the "Inachorian Routes" , represented by the cultural associations of the region, organize the historical race "Lafonissios Road 2025" from Sunday, 4 May.

In 2025 the Lafonisius Road is included in the celebrations of the "Year of Miki Theodorakis" for the 100th anniversary of his birth, while honouring the great Greek composer's ancestry.

The Routes of the Lafonis Road 2025

2025 Lafonisios Dromos 2025 includes three routes of different distances and difficulty levels, offering options for all athletes, from professional runners to amateurs and children.

This route, with starting point the village of Kefali, will be held in honor of the great Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis, who comes from the region and in 2025 it will be 100 years since his birth. The route includes scenic routes through villages and olive groves, giving participants the opportunity to get to know the natural landscape of Crete.

Starting from the village of Livadia and finishing at the Monastery of Chrysoskalitissa, this route is ideal for those who want to enjoy a shorter but equally beautiful route.
